"TOP OF THE DEPTH" music
Author Oleksandr Melnychuk - Ukrainian pianist based in Toronto, Canada.
The project was conceived to express the musical experience which was accumulated by many years of musical activity and training. The idea of creation was visited by the author of the project in 2012 after visiting more than thirty countries of the world from different continents. By 2023, due to his musical activity, he made a way around the planet Earth and visited all continents and a huge number of countries in the world which definitely influenced the formation of his personality, worldview and creative thinking.
Oleksandr Melnychuk is a participant in jazz, academic competitions (as pianist) and vocal competitions, many jazz festivals and music projects (as pianist). Twice winner of the first place in the Rostislav Kabanchenko competition as piano player. In his youth he was called Odesa's Robertino Loretti and as a vocalist he took the Grand Prix at a prestigious competition held at the Odesa Opera Theater, Ukraine. Then Oleksandr went on tours to France as a choir soloist. After the onset of 14 years the voice changed and he continued to study piano got academic and jazz education. His project was accepted into the 9 finalists of one of the most prestigious international competitions “Do # Dj Junior” where he was recognized as the best keyboard player.
Oleksandr worked with a wonderful bass player, student of John Patitucci, Jeremy Sitszer (USA) as well as in the international orchestra of the magnificent trumpeter Vaughn Roberts (New Zealand) where during the period of cooperation played the experienced trombonist of the Frank Sinatra orchestra. Oleksandr played a concert with world class bass-player Anton Davidyants. Successfully played a concert at the conservatory in Esbjerg (Denmark) where he was invited by the head of the jazz department saxophonist Mark Bernstein (USA) a Berkeley graduate. Oleksandr continues to perform his concerts in large and small audiences in different cities and countries.
"TOP OF THE DEPTH" is a multi-faceted project that includes both improvisational - compositional and academic approach to music. Within the framework of the project concerts of jazz music in compositions with various leading musicians are held, solo concerts on the piano are performed in which world classics, improvisations and author music are played. In this case the name of the project is added - "TOP OF THE DEPTH" classic moments.
Oleksandr Melnychuk is the heir to the strong piano school of the Odesa city, Ukraine where the musical traditions of Svyatoslav Richter, David Oistrakh, Sergei Terentyev and other great masters of music.
